Trek's Emonda ALR 6 is a premium aluminum machine that pushed the boundaries of the road bike masterminds at Trek. Light, strong, and smooth with invisible welds, the Emonda ALR is the culmination of years of prototypes and real-world riding from the fastest pros. To deliver an unmatched ride quality, the geometry is taught, yet balanced, something you'll delight in on every ride. It begs you to pedal faster, and go farther. The frame and carbon fork start the story, the components finish it. A full Ultegra group gives you perhaps the best value out there, light enough to race, durable enough to train on day in and day out. Whether you're racking up epic mileage or sprinting for the line, the tubeless-ready Bontrager wheels are there with quickness, compliance, and flat prevention. To create a bike this good, Trek pushed their boundaries, now it's up to you to push yours.
For increased stiffness and improved steering precision, tapered head tubes (see image, on left) and forks pair an oversize lower steerer tube (usually 1 1/2-inch, see image, on right) with a standard diameter upper steerer tube (usually 1 1/8-inch). This combination sheds weight compared to straight 1 1/2-inch systems, and adds stability and stiffness when compared to straight 1 1/8-inch systems. The result is a bike that tracks better through corners while allowing for the use of standard stems.
